Solo Thesis Exhibition @ birds + Richard gallery

Albuquerque, NM

April 1st - June 25th 2022

A toenail becomes a moon, the soot from an oil lamp forms the substrate for negatives, and specks of dust on paper become the cosmos in this exhibition of recent photographic works by Daniel Hojnacki. The artist employs a variety of approaches to the camera apparatus and darkroom printing techniques to slowly and poetically situate ourselves in the universe.

there are ways to dissolve with(in) the space of recognizing time, to be an

observer of that which can not be fully explained, to recognize (we) are suspended dust,

or a breath, slowly filtering through the air.

we are made up of microscopic dry particles in suspension;

somewhere between a pulverized  moistness and air.
