Solar Drawings (2020-on going)

In this series I alter solar eclipse safety viewing film that has intentionally been burned through by the heat of the sun passing through the lens of a large format 4x5 camera. Solar safety film is a material one uses to protect their eyes during an act of wonder, needing it to shield us from our own curiosities whist staring at the sun. It is a material used in the prevention of harming ourselves during this curious act. The material is forced beyond its intended limit, allowing me to annotate the passage of light as I slowly draw upon its surface.
