I make these works as a way to practice being more mindful and present while working in the darkroom. I slow down momentarily, hovering, making slow gestures with my body across smoke soot on glass. I draw elliptical movements and circles floating within space, arcing and floating like celestial bodies around one another in quiet constant movement. Through light and the use of soot, I can create acts of momentary suspension, of weightless objects hovering endlessly atop the surface.
